Do you have difficulty in getting the perfect, flat tummy even after dieting and exercising? Are you upset over a sagging pouch that droops under your belly button as you age? Dr Shree Harsh from Pinnacle Clinic, Lucknow, has the perfect solution to for these issues: Tummy Tuck Surgery

What Is A Tummy Tuck?

Tummy Tuck is the perfect solution for having a chiselled and sculpted tummy. This surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat in the abdominal area. Also referred to as ‘abdominoplasty’, this procedure can be done if the patient has a hanging or a drooping belly that results in a rotund mid-section. This problem can generally lower a person’s confidence and make them feel old and aged.

At Pinnacle Cosmetic Surgery, Dr Shree Harsh has performed various tummy tuck surgeries. Through the procedure, he ensures that the shapeless abdominal area is transformed into a smooth, flat and toned tummy that can be flaunted with confidence.

Why Do Patients Opt For Tummy Tuck?

Dr Shree Harsh explains that there are various reasons for having a shapeless abdomen. These are some of the most common causes for the same:

  1. Pregnancy
  2. Ageing
  3. Significant changes in weight

Despite dieting and exercising, this excess skin and stubborn fat refuse to budge. In such cases, one can opt for a tummy tuck surgery in order to get a desirable and toned tummy.

What Are The Different Types Of Tummy Tuck Surgeries?

Generally, this surgery is customizable according to a patient’s needs. These are the most common types of procedures that are performed at the clinic by Dr Shree Harsh:

  • Full Tummy Tuck: This involves incisions from hip bone to hip bone and near the belly button. This addresses the fat that is accumulated in lower as well as upper abdomen. During the surgery,  it might be necessary to alter the location of the belly button for better contouring.
  • Mini Tummy Tuck: This procedure involves working on a smaller problem area. Here, the incisions are smaller and the doctor does not alter the location of the belly button.
  • Circumferential Tummy Tuck: Also called a 360-degree lift, this targets the fats that are accumulated at the front as well as back of the midsection.
  • Extended Tummy Tuck: This process is done when a patient has lost a significant amount of weight. In this case, the flanks along with the upper and lower abdomen are addressed.

Dr Shree Harsh analyses all the aspects of a patient’s body and then after counselling and taking into consideration the patient’s needs, the necessary procedure is decided upon.

Who Is An Excellent Candidate For A Tummy Tuck?

Dr Shree Harsh puts forth some fundamental conditions to identify whether you are an ideal candidate for the procedure:

  1. The candidate is healthy overall.
  2. The candidate is a non-smoker or is ready to quit smoking for the time period required for the surgery.
  3. The candidate is already at the desired weight and does not plan any significant weight loss in future.
  4. In the case of women, the candidate plans no future pregnancies.
  5. The candidate is upset or distressed over the appearance of the tummy.

If you fit into the above criteria, you are an ideal candidate for a tummy tuck surgery.

What Is The Recovery After The Tummy Tuck?

Dr Shree Harsh will ensure that the patient stays at the centre for a few hours to ensure observation of the healing process.

  • Drains or tubes might be fitted under the skin to drain out any excess fluid or blood. The doctor will further brief the patient regarding the care of the tubes until their removal.
  • After discharge, the patient is advised to avoid any physical activities for at least four to six weeks.
  • Support garments have to be worn mandatorily to maintain the shape of the abdomen.
  • Medications to combat the pain or soreness will have to be taken. Also, anti-coagulants might be administered to avoid the formations of blood-clots. These medications must be taken as prescribed.
  • The patient can resume light work after two to three weeks.

Follow-ups with Dr Shree Harsh must be taken in order to keep a steady evaluation of the healing process.

How Is Tummy Tuck Surgery Performed At Pinnacle Cosmetic Clinic?

Dr Shree Harsh and his team will first administer general anaesthesia. Also, intravenous sedation is preferred for the patient’s comfort during the surgery. This generally puts the patient to sleep.

Depending upon the type of the Tummy Tuck, incisions are made below the belly button, near the belly button, or in case of a mini tummy tuck, only in the lower abdomen. The excess fat and skin are removed through these incisions. If required, the belly button is repositioned according to the new contour of the abdomen.

After the process is done, the incisions are sealed with sutures, skin adhesives, tapes or clips.

In some cases, liposuction is added to the process to have better results. This is called lipoabdominoplasty.

What Are The Risks Associated With The Tummy Tuck Process?

Although tummy tuck is a safe process, sometimes complications and risks are unavoidable. These are a few risks associated with the tummy tuck process:

  • Excessive bleeding (Hematoma)
  • Fluid accumulation (Seroma)
  • Swelling for a long time
  • Numbness around the abdominal area which might be temporary or permanent
  • Misaligned contour around the abdomen
  • Chances of infection

Sometimes, there are chances of performing a second surgery in case of unsatisfactory results. However, these cases are very rare. Caution must be exercised in order to avoid these risks.
