What Is MACS Facelift?

MACS stands for Minimal Access Cranial Suspension. MACS facelift is an advanced technique in cosmetic surgery by which the sagging tissues of the face are lifted in the vertical direction and anchored to a fixed point.

The technique was developed by Dr Patrick L. Tonnard and Dr Alexis Verpaele of Belgium. Dr.Shree Harsh was trained directly by them during his DAFPRS fellowship. This puts him in a league that not many Indian doctors can claim to be a part of.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate For  MACS Facelift?

An ideal candidate for MACS facelift is a healthy individual, who is in a positive frame of mind and has realistic expectations from cosmetic surgery.

The candidate needs to be a non-smoker and should not have any medical issues that could lead to an impairment in the post-operative recovery process.

How Is The MACS Facelift Procedure Performed?

The MACS Facelift procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. Dr Shree Harsh makes an incision along the front of the ear and the lower edge of the sideburns. Then two soluble threads are firmly attached above the cheekbones.  These are woven into the sagging tissue of the face. As a result, the facial tissues are not detached from the underlying muscles, which is a major difference compared to traditional facelifts and makes the whole procedure a lot safer.

By tightening the two threads, the neck is made firmer again, the angle underneath the chin is restored, the cheeks are corrected, the corners of the mouth are lifted and the grooves next to the nose and lips (nasolabial fold) made smoother. Finally, the skin itself is tightened and a small quantity is removed. Tubes are temporarily installed to drain fluids from the wound. The procedure concludes with the careful stitching of the skin.

What Are The Advantages Of MACS Facelift?

MACS Facelift has multiple advantages that set it apart from a traditional facelift:

  • It is a minimally invasive surgery that can significantly improve the appearance of an ageing face.
  • MACS Facelift reshapes the face, by removing excess skin tissues and fat from under the facial muscles.
  • It helps patients in facial contouring by removing stubborn fat portions from the face.
  • It can also be used to achieve a good jawline.
  • MACS Facelift has the shortest possible scar which is almost invisible.
  • It is very safe
  • It remains stable over time
  • The results appear absolutely natural.
  • The wind tunnel effect seen in a traditional facelift is not seen with MACS Facelift.

Add The Synergistic Effect With MACS Facelift

Dr Shree Harsh suggests that a patient may combine other cosmetic procedures with the MACS Facelift for a synergistic effect and more rejuvenated face and body. Pinnacle Cosmetic Surgery recommends the following procedures as part of the synergistic effect:
  • Micro fat graft
  • Rhinoplasty
  • Liposuction
  • Temporal Lift
  • Lip Lift
  • Botox
  • Blepharoplasty
  • Browpexy

What Happens During The Recovery Period of MACS Facelift?

There will be swelling in the operated area. Regular use of icing is recommended. The sutures will be removed in the follow-up visit. You will have to avoid any strenuous activities for at least a couple of weeks. The patient can resume daily activities in 2-3 weeks time. The swelling will slowly reduce as the face recovers from the surgery.

What Is The Cost Of MACS Facelift?

India is one of the most affordable locations for plastic surgery treatments. Patients from around the world choose to come to India for their cosmetic surgery needs. The facelift surgery cost in India is lower than in European countries.

At Pinnacle Cosmetic Surgery, MACS Facelift will cost you approximately INR 1 lac. But if you combine it with other synergistic procedures then the cost will vary.

In case you are wondering whether or not MACS Facelift is right for you, we invite you for a consultation with Dr Shree Harsh. He will discuss the treatment, its benefits, best possible results and any complications involved one-on-one with you.
